• Family Medicine/Barre Family Health Center
Seeking a family physician to join our faculty practice which includes 10 family physicians and 12 family medicine residents (4,4,4), as well as integrated behavioral health providers, and physician assistants at Barre Family Health Center (BFHC) in Barre, MA. The health center has been a well established practice for over 35 years. It is the only rural residency training site in Massachusetts, and it serves as the sole provider of health care for the people of Barre and its 9 surrounding communities. BFHC is a residency teaching site for the UMass Worcester family medicine residency, and also hosts students in all 4 years of the UMass Medical School curriculum. It has been selected to take part in the Patient Centered Medical Home Initiative through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services. It is a full spectrum family medicine practice which includes OB, acute/urgent care and inpatient care at UMass Memorial Medical Center.

• Family Medicine/Fitchburg
Seeking a family medicine faculty physician for Community Health Connections, Fitchburg Community Health Center located in Fitchburg, MA.

This faculty practice which serves as the home of the Department’s Fitchburg Family Medicine Residency Program. The residency is based in Fitchburg, MA in the Fitchburg Community Health Center, the base site of Community Health Connections (CHC), a multi-site, full-service provider of family medicine, medical specialties, dental, mental health and pharmacy services. In May 2012, construction will be completed on their new health center building designed for team-based care in the PCMH. The team includes ten family physicians, five of whom provide maternity care. They also have five mid-level providers and full-time behavioral health faculty. Opportunities are available to practice and teach full-spectrum family medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine. There is inpatient coverage. OB is welcome but not required. This is a NHSC loan repayment eligible site.

• Family Medicine/Hahnemann Family Health Center
Seeking a family physician to join our faculty practice at the Hahnemann Family Health Center, an urban academic group practice located at the Hahnemann Hospital Campus of UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA. The health center serves as a primary training site for family medicine residents in the UMass Worcester Family Medicine Residency Program, and includes opportunities to teach medical students in all four years of the medical school curriculum.
The health center serves a diverse patient population with respect to ethnicity, age and socioeconomic status. Physicians provide full service reproductive options, family centered maternity care, and care for infants, children, adults, and elders across a number of community care settings. They also provide outreach care for an underserved population at Plumley Village Health Center, a small urban underserved practice developed in a local housing project, to long term care patients in a local facility, and to college students at three major colleges with teaching and academic opportunities for students in each of those settings. Care of adult medical patients and pediatric patients is office-based. Hospitalized patients are cared for by hospitalists. Good follow-up is ensured through an active care transition program.

• Internal Medicine/Benedict Primary Care
Seeking an Internal Medicine physician for a Clinician/Educator opportunity at a faculty practice located in the Benedict Primary Care clinic at the University Campus in Worcester, MA.

Clinical activities include ambulatory work in the Adult Primary Care Clinic, Urgent Care Clinic, and inpatient time on both wards as well as consultation service for General Internal Medicine.

The schedule involves 8 (1/2 day) sessions per week for full time physicians and 4 sessions per week for part time physicians. One of the 8 (1/2)day sessions would include precepting 2 Internal Medicine residents and following them over the course of 3 years. They average 10 patients per 4
hour session(after appropriate ramp up practice). Call is divided amongst all 26 faculty. The average is 1-2 on call days per month and involves almost exclusively phone calls.

There are opportunities to be involved in curriculum development for Primary Care Curriculum for the Internal Medicine residency training program. The physicians teach medical students
within their practice as well as in the Physician, Patient, Society course. Also, there are opportunities for Quality Improvement pilots within the Benedict Primary Care practice. There are possible inpatient attending activities for 4 weeks per year (if full time) and 2 weeks per year for part time. Outpatient responsibilities are reduced during this scheduled inpatient time. Lastly, the Clinician/Educator can be the Ward Teaching Attending on the inpatient service in 2-4 week blocks.

• Pediatrics/Child Protection
Seeking a BC/BE Child Abuse Pediatrician or physician with significant experience in the evaluation and treatment of suspected victims of child abuse to join the Division of Child Protection within the Department of Pediatrics. Position includes an academic appointment at the University of Massachusetts Medical School dependent on qualifications and experience.

The Child Protection Program team includes 2 board-certified Child Abuse Pediatricians, a Forensic Nurse Specialist with Pediatric SANE training, two social workers, and an administrative assistant. The Child Protection Program is the lead agency of our county’s Children’s Advocacy Center, which holds associate member status in the National Children’s Alliance, with a goal of obtaining full membership over the next 1-2 years.

The Children’s Medical Center is the only tertiary care hospital for children in central Massachusetts and is the primary referral site for a population of approximately 950,000. The Child Protection Program medically serves over 500 children per year with strong collaboration with local CPS, Law Enforcement, and DA’s offices. Additional opportunities include child fatality review team and other community task forces, local and regional professional training for child protective services and law enforcement, foster care services, and expert testimony. Candidates for this position are expected to teach medical students and housestaff on a regular basis.

Seeking a full-time BC/BE academically-oriented Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician at the Assistant or early Associate Professor level. The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics is composed of full-time and part-time professional faculty. The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and UMass Memorial Health Care is recruiting for a fifth Pediatric Pulmonologist. The ideal candidate will be Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatric Pulmonology, and possess strong clinical and teaching skills. Opportunities exist for applicants committed to clinical or basic research. The Division currently consists of four pulmonologists, three nurse practitioners, a social worker, a pediatric dietitian, and strong support staff. Large asthma management, chronic lung disease, and diagnostic programs are ongoing. The 125 patient Cystic Fibrosis Center is engaged in cutting edge translational research programs. Our Sleep program has a 14 bed AASM accredited Pediatric and Adult sleep lab with a comprehensive Pediatric Sleep clinic.
